Nova Literary-Arts Magazine is a nationally-recognized magazine produced by students at UNC Charlotte that publishes poetry, short stories and visual art. Each year, the magazine is designed with a different theme, which creates a lens through which the art and literature may be interpreted. As Editor-in-Chief, I led a team of three designers to guide the
visual direction of this year’s issue.
I developed the theme around the concept of stars crossing paths and sparking light in space, much like how art and literature enlighten us to new ideas. Individual stars take on new meaning when organized into constellations. The works of art and writing in this magazine, placed in a group context, generate new understandings in relation and opposition to one another.
